FreeGIS.nets legal experts have already  published the licensing guidelines

After drafting the legal framework document (File), the team of legal experts produced two documents that aim to publish  the best operating license for the issue of spatial data by public bodies. The  first document  (File) analyzes the main technical legal issues relating to licensing and shows  the way for  choosing  the ultimate  instrument . The second document (File) ,on the basis of what has emerged in the advisory board and the user community, is concerned to present several precautions for a correct application of the license and for its enforcement.

An Open Talk about  "Open Geo Data & Smart communities" as part of the Innovation Festival on  September 27th

TIS, in collaboration with" Stati Generali dell'Innovazione" (General States for  Innovation), organized  within the program of the Innovation Festival - Bolzano (scheduled  for September 26th to 28th http://www.innovationfestival.bz.it/it/index.asp),   a meeting using the Open Talk modality http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_talk), which is open to  all those present in the room.
The discussion will be about  the new development prospects  and  the business activities with the opening of the data relating to mobility, tourism and the environment and how, thanks to geographic systems- which are related to each other-the PA, follows goals in order to achieve a greater transparency and better services for the community.
The debate will generate a document that will be the basis for new programmatic interventions of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano.

The initiative is sponsored by  ASITA (the  Federation of Scientific Associations for Territorial and Environmental Information )

The amendments of Directive 2003/98/EC for the of re-use public sector information (PSI Directive) have been approved :

On  June 13th the European Parliament approved  the proposal to update the previous regulations on the  re-use of Public Sector Information(which dates back to2003).

According to the new rules the  public information - except those subjected  to specific limitations (for example, because relating to State security matters) - will be accessible online and private companies will be able to use them to offer new services and applications.
The new directive will change the approach of the public administrations , affecting the reluctance of the people to share information. Companies  will have access to   public data for free or at very low costs.
